Self First Seminars and Workshops

Self First Seminars
Dawn Lorie, a longtime professional Image/Career Coach, SAG/AFTRA Actress, , Make-up Artist/Stylist, who holds a Masters of Arts in Performance and Communication, and who is a recovered bulimic shares her insight to enlighten today’s youths, parents and teachers on issues of image, health and self-development. Dawn’s seventeen year battle with bulimia, although an overwhelming challenge, is the foundation of her strategies for excellent internal/external health. It is her hope that young adults and children can avoid such paths of hopelessness via awareness and education. The content of which she speaks, coupled with her contagious enthusiasm and poise positions her as a healthy role model for young men and women. Dawn presents with humor and drama stimulating self-awareness and critical thinking in the minds of her audience… suggesting our personal struggles are the foundation for change and wholeness.

Challenges to educate youth today extend far beyond the classroom. Expectations are high for today’s students, at home and at school, not to mention pressures from peers and the media.

The stresses on today’s youth make it difficult to maintain a healthy self-image. The symptoms are numerous...drug use, alcohol, gun violence, gangs, poor grades and for many...eating disorders.

The onset of puberty, coupled with nurture issues, can often be catastrophic to some. Physical and hormonal changes may result in a distorted self-image for both males and females. Self-destructive behaviors may lead to obsession, an insatiable desire to be perfect ...control... fit in...or rebel consumes our youth. Symptoms which go unnoticed or are overlooked...may even result in death. Yet, all that can be denied by a healthy self.
